Privacy Policy
1. Scope of this policy
This policy explains what personal information Quvanel handles when you visit this website or hold an account with us, why we handle it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for residents of Quebec, the requirements introduced by Law 25.
2. Information we collect
You give us your name, email address, telephone number and province or territory of residence when you register, along with the identity documents required for verification. We also record technical information automatically, including IP address, browser and device type, referring page and the pages you open on this site.
3. Why we handle it
We use your information to open and administer your account, verify who you are, answer your questions, keep the platform secure, improve what we build, send you operational notices about your own account, and satisfy obligations placed on us by Canadian law.
4. Consent and its withdrawal
We ask for your consent before collecting personal information, and we tell you what it is for at the time. You can withdraw consent for anything that is not legally required by writing to us, though doing so may mean we can no longer keep your account open.
5. Safeguards
We apply technical and organizational measures proportionate to the sensitivity of the information: encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access limited to staff who need it, logged administrative actions, and periodic independent security review.
6. Service providers
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with providers acting on our instructions — identity verification, payment processing, cloud hosting and customer messaging — and only to the extent each one needs in order to perform its function for us.
7. Storage outside Canada
Some providers process information outside Canada, which means it may be accessible to the courts and law-enforcement authorities of that country. Where this happens we put contractual protections in place designed to give your information a level of protection comparable to what it receives here.
8. How long we keep it
We keep account records for as long as the account is open and afterwards for the period required by Canadian financial record-keeping and anti-money-laundering obligations, including those administered by FINTRAC. Information no longer needed for any of those purposes is destroyed or anonymized.
9. Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted where no legal obligation requires us to keep it, receive it in a portable format, or object to a particular use. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within thirty days.
10. Automated decision-making
Trading models act on market data, not on your personal characteristics. Where an automated process is used in a decision about your account — verification screening, for example — you may ask us what information was used and request a review by a person.
11. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your language and measure how the site performs. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the platform will not work correctly if you do.
12. Young people
This service is for adults who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone below it, and we delete such information as soon as we become aware of it.
13. Contact and complaints
Our privacy officer can be reached at [email protected] for any question, access request or complaint. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may take the matter to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, to the Commission d'accès à l'information.
